HISTORY/ARCHITECTURE
This Mid Century Modern Wallingford, PA home in the suburbs of Philadelphia was designed in 1958 by Philadelphia architect Irwin Stein (born 1930) for Morton and Elsa Wachs. Stein studied under Paul Rudolph at the University of Pennsylvania and worked in the office of notable modern architects Oscar Stonorov and Frank Weiss.  Dr. Wachs, a dentist, was beginning his career and commissioned Stein to build a 2-bedroom house with attached dental office.  Nearly a decade later, the Wachs family had expanded — and Dr. and Mrs. Wachs once again turned to Stein to design an addition to the home.
